In the past decade, the Thai art world has welcomed young, contemporary artists to the scene. They activate the dynamic atmosphere in which their ideologies and practices have been developed through vigorous discourses and discussions. The paths they pave allow them many possibilities in experimenting with their hypothesises. We, as passengers in the back seat for this occasion, keep our minds open for the chance to see where they are taking us. Their visions encompass curiosities which drive them to examine our society and the existing aesthetic currents with compelling questions.
Change is inevitable and it is vital to acknowledge this fact. Unimaginable circumstances have proven that things will never be the way they used to be. We are passing down our society to a newer, fresher generation and our survival depends on their foresights. We crave new techniques and knowledge. We need relevant content that better reflects contemporary topics. We look to their artistic aesthetic to predict our futures and for it to be as dynamic and varied as they are. “the end is now, now is here: The Exploration of Drawing” exhibition places the technique of drawing at the centre of this exploration, privileging process, gesture, time, expression of ideas, and artistic corporal experience over and pure aesthetic.
